I recently saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie (A Game of Shadows) and I thought it was amazing! It was action-packed and comedic at the same time, which is how Holmes appears in the stories, so I think it stays true to the character. Also, I was reading online about it, and found out that it is loosely based on one of the Sherlock Holmes short stories, The Final Problem. I'm so excited to read the short story now!
Let me know if anyone else saw the movie, and we can talk about it more. :D
I havent actually seen the movies but from the previews it aally doesnt seem to be very acurate to Holmes' nature. He is very sneaky in his ways and calm by nature. In the movies he seems agressive and action-packed. Of course that is what makes the movie interesting but i feel like a TV show like monk or murder she wrote would be easier to more accurately depict Holmes' adventures.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the movies, I agree that the movie producers took many liberties, because the original Holmes just observers clues and solves cases, however in the movie, he is basically a superhero fighting a nemesis. However, I think the most interesting parts of Holmes (his powers of deduction and social awkwardness) are still intact. I think the movies stay true to Holmes, but not the stories... if that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteit does make sense. i'll have to go see them :)I wanted to finish the stories first though.
